Overview
Trymedia was acquired by RealNetworks in 2008. Their ActiveSTORE solution offered content publishers and game developers a white label, fully hosted and managed games channel. Due to the level of customization, it would take 30+ days and a considerable budget to launch a new ActiveSTORE site.
Challenge
Create a suite of new templates for various client types that could scale, reducing the time and cost of implementation, while allowing enough customization to reflect the partner’s brand.
Solution
Working closely with business development, merchandising/marketing, and development teams, I developed a set of five games channel templates to serve a variety of partner types including:
The page layout was designed to be flexible so a web developer could turn widgets on or off based on the client’s preference. Logo and CSS were fully customizable to match a site’s look-and-feel. Merchandising was based on dynamic lists, yet the lists could be overwritten with manual merchandising by storefront. A lighter front-end and back-end enabled the implementation team to deploy a new site within 24 hours and at half the cost. The product was named “ActiveSTORE Lite”.
